Can it Handle the Heat? The Intersection of Additive Manufacturing, Evolved Gas Analysis and Multi-Discipline Inspiration to Create New Design Space for Greener Nuclear Reactors

Dr. Elizabeth S. Sooby, Assistant Professor, The University of Texas at San Antonio

The world demands more from its energy portfolio including Nuclear Reactors. Additive manufacturing has opened up the capability to produce parts for these systems in ways not previously possible that can lead to better performance and greener energy. Characterizing these materials and parts at extreme conditions can be challenging.  High-Temperature Thermal Analysis coupled with advanced analytical techniques makes this work possible.
